Businesses give opinions on planned Five Points roundabout

POLAND, Ohio (WYTV) – The Five Points intersection at Western Reserve Road can get backed up with cars at the many stop signs.

The owners of The Focal Point in Poland Township often see rush hour traffic come to a complete stop.

“I mean, I have had a couple clients that are coming in, let’s say they have a 5:30 appointment. They could hang out there for a good 20 minutes,” Jennifer Morakis said.

And when traffic is not at a standstill, cars may simply roll through the stop signs.

“Well a lot of people too sliding through, because of this type of weather, snow. People slide through the intersection quite a bit,” Chris Morakis said.

The solution? Replacing the Five Points intersection with a new roundabout. The only other one in Mahoning County is at Mathews Road and Sheridan Road in Boardman, where people say there was a learning process.
